About me
I am an independent candidate seeking re-election to East Devon District Council in the elections on 4th May 2023 for the ward of West Hill and Aylesbeare.
I was elected as the Devon County Council Councillor for the Otter Valley Ward on Thursday 6th May 2021.
I have lived in West Hill for 13 years with my husband. We have three children – one who attends West Hill Primary School and two who are now at secondary school.
I grew up on a farm in Devon, before leaving to go to university and law school. I worked as a commercial property solicitor in the City for a number of years and my training and experience there has helped me with the voluntary work I have undertaken and with my role as a councillor.
I have served as a trustee on West Hill pre-school and Village Hall committee. I was a member of Ottery St Mary Town Council from 2013 until West Hill Parish was formed in 2017 and since then have been member of West Hill Parish Council. I sat as a parish representative on East Devon District Council’s standards board from 2016-2018. I stood as an independent candidate in the East Devon District Council elections on 2nd May 2019 and was elected to represent West Hill and Aylesbeare.
I have always been a campaigner at heart; I still have a copy of a letter which I wrote to Mrs Thatcher as a 15 year old imploring her to reduce the level of pollution in the oceans. The natural environment is really important to me, and I love the trees and wildlife in and around West Hill and Aylesbeare.
I really care about where I live and am committed to working hard for the community.
